Can anyone pick up 10 pounds of dry ice on their way over tomorrow? I'm not exactly sure where to get it but we need it to easily and cleanly get the sound deadener out of the car.  Also we need like a pint of isopropyl alcohol and some heavy winter gloves to handle this stuff.

I'll ask my dad, we have an electric cooler to keep it from thawing quickly if you want that.

I am keeping track of the finances.  Please save your receipts and give to me of anything you spend for the car.  things specifically spent on the car will be tracked and costs evened out with the exception of personal safety gear.  I would like to track that to but not necessary.  All costs are privileged information and will never be posted on here.  I will be happy to share individually as requested.  It will be used also to verify we maintain our budget.  I do request that you put your name on the top of each receipt that is yours.  If we have team funds we will utilize that first.  I will discuss tomorrow in person.

I weighed the sound deadener we took out of the car today. 26.9 POUNDS!, pretty cheap mass reduction.

Thanks to the team for all the hard work today and food everyone bought.  After everyone left I came in and Rima had brownies ready for all of us.  They are delicious.

The next get together is December 30th and the plan is to work on the brakes and start installing the engine and transmission. In the meantime I'm going to try to get the front suspension finished and the fuel tank and sender finished and installed. Don is working on the brackets for the rear brakes and cleaning up the front brakes. And if we want to put the engine and trans in we need to find a transmission too.

This is the piece that has to be welded to prevent any play, this is what eliminates the sloppy feel in the rack. Other things that have to be done, are remove the valve separator within the rack housing, which separates the left and right valves. All fluid holes must also be blocked off.

Don and I picked up the transmission today! It's an NV3500 from a 1998 2WD S10.  It's a beefy little sucker! The shifter center is located 16 inches back from the back of the bellhousing flange where the current shifter hole is 30 inches back from the firewall.  It's not even close.  With that said I think we can make some linkage to move the shifter position back in the car.  The position also gives us an opportunity to move the engine back further.  We could make it mid-engine technically!

The end of the tape measure shows where the bell housing flange would sit if the shifter lined up.

That's a fat tranny! Mid engine would be really cool! It sounds like it would be a pain im the ass though, fabricating it and all.

I cleaned up the transmission a little bit and stuck her up in there.  Just put it in the standard location for now.

The bolt on the tape measure shows where the front of the engine will land.  If we leave the engine in this position the radiator support will need to be made perpendicular to the ground like my LS1 Car and we would have about 5 inches from the water pump to the radiator for the electric fan to fit it.

I'm thinking we could cut the firewall here.

And cut the floor here and slide the tunnel and firewall back.

Also, I found something interesting today before I put the trans in place.  I noticed the front left jack stand was completely loose. This chassis is really stiff!
