: Sound clips of my new exhaust
: joe1573 May 03, 2011, 06:42:36 AM
After month of waiting and having to reselect once, I finally got the new cat-back. My last tuning session got me 402 RWHP and 341 Torque. We are hoping with a little more flow with the exhaust we can gain a little in both but mostly torque. You can see on the dyno chart where boost and torque drop together.
I toke some video of the Racing Beat Dual Tip(what i had), my new Apexi N-1 Dual Tip and N-1 Dual with silencers.

I still think the RB Dual sounds best but we'll have to see what happens next tuning session.

Yeah I had a racing beat exhaust on my FC and as far as I am concerned it is the best sounding exhaust for rotaries.

The RB was the better sounding one in the garage, but under load?

The apexi under load is amazing, when the active silencers open up it amazing. The funny thing is in side the car there is less noise with the apexi then with the RB. I really want my car to sound more quiet a idle and cruising speeds. I think the resonated mid pipe I have needs to be upgraded.
I just want my FD to sound as good as Banzai Racing 20B FD. It sounds so good at idle you would think its stock.

Me too! My car is spending the winter at Banzai racing shop. After last summers mess I made, Chris offer to help trouble shoot and tune for exchange for using my car to prototype some part he is now selling.
After posting up this thread I decided to change my down-pipe and mid-pipe, hoping for better sound. As soon as I can I will post up new clips.
I also decided as long as my car is at Chris's shop, upgrade primary injectors(850), JDM transmission, water/meth injection, 3bar map sensor, Banzai Racing transmission crossmember, and one or two little things I can't remember. I hoping to tune it to 18 PSI this spring, it's going to be like a hole new car.

I just change the starter I the FD(Christmas present from the wife) and other then that I haven't even looked at my FD or SA since the fall. I started working at Ford Sterling Axle plant in February and still running my shop. 80-90 hour weeks don't leave much time for fun.
Just want to also say the new starter is amazing much faster start then stock. http://www.banzai-racing.com/store/2KW_HT_Starter_93rx7.html (http://www.banzai-racing.com/store/2KW_HT_Starter_93rx7.html)

nice.  a faster starter makes a huge difference.  glad your working at ford sterling plant.  but 80-90 hour weeks get to be a drag.  make sure you find time for yourself.  That is a great gift from your wife.  it would be nice to have a faster starter on my second gen.

Too bad they don't have one for the FC.  My 20B is a lot to crank over for my TII starter.

It should fit your 20b , I believe he made it originally for that engine.

I will have to check with them on that.  Basically the transmission and flywheel determine which starter can be used.  I have a TII transmission and flywheel, so therefore a TII starter.  I just got a thought that I may check out sometime, I wonder if I can take the motor portion of the 20B starter and stick it on the gear portion of the TII starter? Only one way to find out I guess.

I guess this piqued my interest.  From the quick research I did, the FC automatic transmission starter will fit a TII transmission and has the same power as that bonzai starter. Can be had from Oreillys for about $90.

Also, it seems all the Bonzai guys are doing is putting an rx8 motor on the FD starter gear.
