: Any Rotary/PFC tuners in Michigan?
: murz May 16, 2018, 06:50:50 AM
Not sure if anyone is aware of any, the closest I can think of is Banzai, which is 4 hours away, which isn't too bad.

I don't know of any in Michigan. There's an RX7 shop (the Zoom-Zoom Store) here in Columbus, but from what I've heard, they are good at bolt ons and nothing more. Then there is Elite Rotary Shop in Chicago, which is where I will be taking the FD once I fix it.

We can just load what is in my PFC and take it to the dyno here in Pontiac for fine tuning

Do you know what secondaries you have? That'd be a great idea actually, as long as everything hardware matches. I found out there's an option on the PFC commander that allows you to switch to Non-SEQ mode.

My car is wanting to boost to 14PSI right now, figured I'd need a tune eventually, but now I REALLY need one. The boost controller doesn't seem to want to work, which is me thinking it's boost spike.

I really don't know about the injectors.  If anything it may have 850 primaries.  We can check it out though.  I have no boost controller and it runs at about 12 psi so I would assume your boost controller would only be able to make it higher.

I think the PFC has a way to control boost too, my car see's 14PSI if I let it now, which I've only done once, and won't again until it's tuned. I bet there's a way to up the boost on your car with the controller.

The boost setting was set at the half way point (which was 10PSI before the intercooler), I set it lower and it didn't do anything, which makes me believe it might just be boost spiking (cutback + high flow cat + intake + intercooler does that).

It would be nice if there's a way to upgrade the secondaries without upgrading the entire rail and fuel system, due to the side feed injectors.

A boost controller doesn't generally make less boost than what the wastegate spring designates.  It usually PWMs the boost line to the diaphragm to reduce the boost pressure it actually sees.

Correct, but it should be able to hold it at 10psi then? I think it was a 7 or 10 lbs spring?

Well, played with the controller and it's now boosting to 12PSI, which I'm happy with until I get a tune.

Did you already get a PFC?

Not yet, probably will this week though.

Sweet, what fuel pump is in the car?

Supra fuel pump apparently.

Should be good to crank her up a bit then.
