I need the hook up on a TII starter
« on: July 29, 2012, 07:30:12 AM »
I am very close to putting the 20b on the road and my starter just crapped out. Rich set me up with a nice starter but I found out first hand that an NA starter is not even close to a TII starter.

Let me know if anyone has it, also let me know if you need anything as I have a bunch of parts.

I took that "new" looking NA starter apart to use some parts on my Tii starter. That thing is toast. It looks all burned up inside and the brushes are all stuck.

I managed to clean mine up and it works good for now.

Yeah that thing is nasty, I'll show you next time you are over.

BTW I dont want to sound like I am not grateful I appreciate the starter very much.

oh I know,  it was super clean to, at least on the outside and i never cleaned it.  Usually my parts that are super clean i have are actually in great working order, so to learn that the inside was fried, leads me to a couple of theories.  One theory is i used it on the red car, but fried it after the first rebuild from over cranking and another one was then installed for me and i just hung onto the part.

The other theory is i had gotten it with a bunch of other parts and never checked it out and assumed it was good from the outside condition.  I do have that other starter too.  Maybe we can crack it open and rebuild a single good starter.

yeah these things are pretty simple to pull apart, I think I will just rebuild my starters from now on. It is much cheaper.

Yeah, I'll take it. I might be able to mix in some better parts. Thanks.
